The following is an excerpt from the Brief Historical Sketch presented at
the dedication ceremony on October 31, 1971.
In response to the leading of the Lord, the Berean
Fundamental Church of Colorado Springs was organized on September 6, 1967,
in the home of Rev. and Mrs. Frank A. Kroese. Mrs. Cleone Gorst
entertained the motion that the church be established. Mrs. Gorst and
the Pastor and his wife were charter members.
The first Sunday services were held on October 1, 1967
in the Pastor's home. There were nine in attendance for the Sunday
school and Sunday services.
On November 5, 1969 the church purchased a four acre
site from the Cimarron Development Co. at the corner of Galley Road and
Western Drive, now renamed the Berean Fundamental Church Subdivision.
Because of growth, services were relocated in the
Cimarron Hills Townhouse Clubhouse on April 19, 1970 and continued there
until May 30, 1971.
Construction on the present building began on Jan. 1,
1971 by the Eller Construction Co. The building was completed to a
point of usability by June and the first services were held June 6, 1971.
God has been fulfilling His promise given to us when we
first felt God's call to the city of Colorado Springs on July 26, 1967.
A translation of Prov 4:18 in the Christian Workers Testament reads: "As
thou goest, I will go before thee and open the way, step by step."
We thank God for His faithfulness to His own Word and
to His work. We trust that a great company of people will join their voices
in a single chorus praising and thanking God for this testimony for His
glory.
The church was renamed in 1996 to "New Heart Community
Church".
Here's how our church building looks today...
