Southwest Colorado was
home to Tim Norris for the first 18 years of his life. He was the fourth
of six children, born to godly parents, Art and Emalou Norris. Being
reared in a rural setting, and in the beauty of Colorado, instilled in him an
appreciation for the great outdoors.
During his youth Tim was
exposed to the truths of Scripture at home as well as through attendance in
church and Sunday school. God used the Holy Scriptures to bring conviction
of personal sin. The Bible also revealed the "Good News" that Christ Jesus
died as a substitute for his sin. While attending a Bible Camp at the age
of 13, Tim began to trust the Lord Jesus as his only and sure hope of
forgiveness from sin. This belief and confidence in Christ has grown
throughout the years.
During his high school
years Tim became convinced that God wanted to "use" him in some form of
Christian service. Although unsure of just how God might do that, Tim made
the decision to let God do what He wanted with him.
Tim attended one year at
a Christian College and then three years at a Bible Institute. During his
last year of Bible training he met Donna Meier and asked her to be his wife.
A year later (1971) Tim and Donna were married and made their home in Colorado
Springs. The newlyweds soon began attending the Cimarron Hills Berean
Church (currently known as New Heart Community Church). While attending
here Tim and Donna learned that the Cedar Creek Berean Church in Nebraska was in
need of a pastor. So they moved there early in 1973 to take that
responsibility. This pastoral ministry continued until mid 1979.
From 1979 to 1992 Tim
taught in a Bible Institute. And from 1993 to 1996 he taught Bible at a
Christian high school. Though involved in "full time" ministry from 1973
to 1996 Tim (and sometimes Donna) held part-time jobs to subsidize the income.
Beginning in 1996 Tim was gainfully employed full time and involved in ministry
part time. It was from this type of ministry that they became reacquainted
with New Heart Community Church.
In May 2005 Tim learned
that New Heart Community Church was without a pastor and began preaching on
Sundays while the church searched for a pastor. In the months that
followed it became evident that he should be the next pastor. And so in
mid June 2006 Tim Norris became pastor of New Heart Community Church.
